The “Pass the Pigs” Invitational!

Because of the massive success of the other three NPPL tournaments, a fourth was inevitable.  A brainstorm of 2-time Double Jowler roller Johnny Derango,  this tournament will allow each Master to bring one guest!  Check back for more details after the Pig Madness event!!  Go to the Tournaments page for more info.

--Eligible - NPPL Masters + 1 friend each

Attendees - Masters and one guest/teammate each
Date - Fall 2010
Entry Fee - $50

The Invitational is very unique to other NPPL events as each Master will team up with a guest and compete as a team.

The tournament format is the same as the Masters with each team playing every other team 3 times each in a round-robin format with the top (probably 6) teams moving on to a knock-out style play-off.
The unique aspect of the Invitational is the "best-ball" format which will require teams to work together.

Description of the Best-Ball Format
- Each team will roll once to determine who goes first
- On a team's turn each player will take a full Pass-the-Pigs turn until they decide to pass or have pigged-out.
- The team's score for that turn will be the HIGHER of the two teammate's scores.

Some examples -
- If the first player to roll for the team scores 20 points and then decides to pass, and the second player scores 40 and then passes the team will score 40 points for that turn (the higher of the two scores).
- If the first player to roll scores 20 points and then decides to pass, and the second player pigs-out, the team will score 20 points for that turn.
- If the first player pigs-out prior to passing to their partner the team will only score what the second player is able to accumulate before passing.
- If both players fail to pass before pigging-out their score will be zero for the turn.

- Games are to 200
- Oinkers - If either player on a team oinks (regardless of if they are the first or second to roll) the team will lose all their points accumulated to that point, their total score will go to zero, their turn will end, and the pigs will go to the other team for their next turn.
- Teams may discuss strategy and when to pass with each other at any time, including during a turn, but the decision to pass or keep rolling lies with the person rolling, regardless of the teammate's opinion.
- Teams are free to roll in any order on any given turn.
