NEXT WEEKENDS TOURNAMENT IS AN EVENT LIKE NO OTHER

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines.  Less than 10 days until Pig Madness IV.  Next week, the ground will shake, the earth will quake, and someone will be crowned champion (and will be $1,000 richer).  Who it will be is almost irrelevant to the main event of the day--the fact that good times will be had by everyone.

There really is no other tournament in the NPPL's history that can compare to this one. It's truly an event that makes everyone feel welcome.  White, black, male, female. From 9 year olds to senior citizens. It doesn't matter who you are, it loves you all.  People have flown in from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Colorado, Illinois, New York and Minnesota to participate.  Since it's beginnings 3 short years ago, it's had almost 100 different contestants.  Almost everyone has walked away with memories that will last a lifetime.  What's it called?  PIG MADNESS!

GREENE, RAGO & DAY--THE VISIONARYS

All of this wouldn't have been possible without the 3 men that built this thing.  Mike Greene, Mark Rago, and Perry Day.  Greene was the visionary that got the ball rolling. The Christopher Columbus of the NPPL.  Where no one else thought to organize a wonderful game,  Greene did.  He gave the pigs the foundation for which the NPPL was built, as well as creating the original NPPL website.  Most of all, Greene did what no one else had the courage to do:  He gave a game that was confined to the travel section of  Toys R' Us the respect it deserved.

If Greene was the Columbus, Rago & Day were Magellan--the men that completed the journey. Men who saw the need for a monumental event--a colossal contest where Pass The Pigs would fully blossom on a national stage.  That event, dear readers, is PIG MADNESS

FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO TOURNAMENT EXTRAVAGANZA

I still remember when the NPPL was nothing more than a mere side project played by 5 men in an apartment with a 6 pack of beer, a few cigarettes and not much else.  We used one set of pigs that was so worn out from rolling that a sider was almost an impossible combination.  Now there's a Midwest & Eastern division, a masters jacket & trophy, a myspace page, posters, banners, sideline reporters, commentators, an organized federation, and this website.  And the topper to all of this?  The Big Kahuna?

It's the tournament to end all tournaments:  PIG MADNESS.

I'll see you all there next week.

---When he’s not hung over or at the strip joints, Scoop has been a freelance writer for the NPPL for many years, and now…he has his own weekly column.  A dedicated fan of the Pigs and the NPPL for many years, Scoop has always voiced his true feelings of the league – good or bad.  His no-holds-barred approach and unmerciful opinions have led to almost-chaos throughout the entire league and its fanbase.  Why would the NPPL hire an alcoholic, mobster wanna-be, blow-snorting writer that hates most of human society…  for his love of the Pigs.  That’s right - The Love of the Pigs.  Check back every week to read his new columns and see who’s life he fucks up next!
